Panettiere began her career at a very young age. She was only 11 months old when she first appeared in commercials. From 1994 to 1997, she portrayed the character Sarah Roberts in the series One Life to Live followed by the role of Lizzie Spaulding in the film Guiding Light in 1996.

Hayden Panettiere landed her breakthrough role in 1999 in the TV movie If You Believe for which she was nominated for the Young Artist Award.
